Born in 1994 in Tam Quang, a mountainous commune in Nghe An province near Laos’ border, Canh grew up in a farming family where hardship was part of daily life. As the youngest of three children, he witnessed resilience early on—especially from his older brother, who was born with a physical disability, and his father, who often struggled with illness.
Canh’s childhood took a life-changing turn at the age of 11, when he was diagnosed with retinal detachment. Despite multiple surgeries, his vision gradually faded until he became completely blind by the time he was in fifth grade. Forced to leave school, his future seemed uncertain.
With encouragement from the local blind association, Canh began rebuilding his life. He learned to make incense sticks, studied Braille, and later trained as a massage therapist. Alongside this, he developed basic computer skills designed for visually impaired individuals—opening new pathways for independence.
For nearly 15 years, Canh worked steadily in Nghe An, building both skill and confidence. Like many others, he faced setbacks during the COVID-19 pandemic, when the massage facility where he worked was forced to close. Yet he adapted—taking on different jobs and moved from one massage parlor to the others.
In 2025, driven by a desire for growth and better opportunities, Canh moved to Hanoi and joined Omamori Spa. This step marked a new chapter in his journey toward financial stability and personal development.
That same year, his family back home faced a devastating loss when severe flooding destroyed their rice fields, wiping out an entire harvest. With their land no longer suitable for rice cultivation, they were forced to change their livelihood. In response, Omamori Spa provided one ton of rice to help support Canh’s family through this difficult time.
Faith has always been an important part of Canh’s life. Although he once considered joining a religious order, circumstances led him to prioritize supporting his family, as he has become their primary provider. Today, he continues to work with determination, while holding onto a long-term dream: to one day serve in a community that cares for people with disabilities, the elderly, and those without support.
Canh’s story is one of resilience, adaptability, and quiet determination. Despite the challenges he has faced, he continues to move forward—building a life not only for himself, but also with the hope of giving back to others in need.
