DECEMBER 3, 2024: INTERNATONAL DAY OF PERSONS WITH DISABILITES
Today, we are honored to participate in the celebration of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, hosted by the Ministry of Planning and Investment. On behalf of our students, we express our sincere gratitude to Minister Nguyen Chi Dung, Mrs. Thu Le, President of MPI's Labor Union, and all MPI's officials and staff for their unwavering support of the disability community.
We fondly recall the significant moments in December 5, 2019, when the Free White Cane Initiative for the Vietnamese blind was launched. The collective efforts of the Ministry, the Vietnam Blind Association, and BlindLink have empowered thousands of visually impaired individuals nationwide.
Through the provision and training on white cane usage, these individuals have gained independence, confidence, and the ability to fully integrate into society.
Beyond being a mere mobility aid, the white cane symbolizes the blind community's pursuit of confidence, independence, and equality. We aspire for this Initiative to continue its expansion, ensuring that all Vietnamese blind individuals have access to and can effectively utilize white canes for safe and independent daily living.
Once again, we extend our heartfelt thanks to Minister Nguyen Chi Dung and the entire Ministry for creating opportunities that uplift the lives of the blind community and vulnerable populations. Your support and policy efforts in creating an enabling environment have empowered visually impaired individuals to contribute meaningfully to society, particularly through professions like massage therapy, which holds immense potential for the Vietnamese blind community.
Thank you, Minister and colleagues, for your unwavering support, which has fostered our trust and inspired our motivation!
