Phạm Đức Anh, born in 2005 in Thái Bình, Vietnam, is a visually impaired individual who currently lives and works in Nam Định. Despite facing immense challenges, he remains determined to build a stable career and inspire others through his journey.
In September 2022, Đức Anh lost his vision due to the prolonged misuse of eye drops containing dexamethasone and cortisol, which led to glaucoma. However, he did not let this setback define him. He successfully completed high school, spent a year at home adjusting to his new reality, and then pursued a basic “Tẩm quất” (Vietnamese traditional) techniques at the National Training & Rehab Center for the Vietnamese Blind (NTRC). After graduation, he began working at a low-end studio for the blind.
Now, two months into his career, he continues to refine his skills through the advanced Vietnamese Non-oil Therapeutic Massage Course organized by Omamori Spa and the NTRC in July 2024. Before attending our training course, on average, he provided service for about 100 clients per month, earning approximately 5.5 million VND or 200 usd. His workplace sometimes have cases of inappropriate customer behavior, so he prefers not to provide home massage services due to safety concerns.
Looking ahead, Đức Anh dreams of a stable income that allows him to support himself. More than anything, he hopes for a chance to regain his sight. We will keep in touch with him to observe his progress and the efficacy of applying what he learnt in this job.
