Born in Hưng Yên in 2001, Hoàng Việt Anh has embodied resilience from a young age. Living with visual impairment due to retinal damage, he has navigated the complexities of daily life, adapting to the challenges of mobility and the simple act of crossing a street with quiet determination.
After completing an initial traditional “tẩm quất” (massage) course offered by the local blind association, Việt Anh took his first steps into the professional world, working at a massage studio for the visually impaired in his hometown. However, the fledgling business struggled to attract clients, leaving Việt Anh with a meager monthly income that fluctuated between a few hundred thousand and roughly one million VND – less than 50 USD. Tips, while appreciated, were infrequent and small, with only a handful of clients offering a modest 10-20,000 VND gratuity out of every ten.
Driven by an unwavering determination to elevate his skills and expand his career horizons, Việt Anh seized a life-changing opportunity in December 2024: enrolling in the advanced Vietnamese non-oil therapeutic massage course generously sponsored by Omamori Spa. This intensive training proved transformative. Việt Anh’s massage techniques underwent significant improvement, and with each new skill acquired, his confidence in his abilities blossomed.
Looking towards the future, Việt Anh harbors a strong aspiration to work in the bustling city of Hanoi. He envisions a professional environment where he can continue his journey of learning and refining his expertise. He is drawn to the prospect of a workplace where clients seek massage therapy purely for its therapeutic benefits, fostering a professional and respectful atmosphere conducive to growth.
