Hong Trang’s Story

Hồng Trang, born in 2007, lost her mother when she was only three years old. After that, her father remarried, and Trang was left to live in a home with her stepmother and a newborn sibling. Growing up in an environment where emotional support was scarce, Trang found herself feeling increasingly isolated. She had few friends and struggled with communication, especially in social situations. Due to her stepmother’s attention on the new baby, Trang spent most of her time at home, which led to feelings of neglect and emotional detachment.

Trang also developed social anxiety and a fear of loud voices and crowded places, making it even more difficult for her to connect with others. The lack of physical activity caused her to become sedentary and struggle with obesity, which further affected her self-esteem and emotional well-being.

Trang completed her education up to the ninth grade before leaving school. Despite this, she has always had a deep love for the English language. She enjoys listening to English music, which has been a source of comfort and inspiration for her.

In 2024, recognizing the decline in his daughter’s mental and physical health, Trang’s father made a significant decision. He decided to send her to Omamori Spa, hoping that a new environment would offer the support and care she needed. At Omamori Spa, Trang was provided with not only a place to heal but also an opportunity for personal growth. She quickly adapted to the welcoming atmosphere and became an integral part of the Omamori Spa family.

One of the most significant milestones in Trang’s journey was when she began learning English with the help of volunteer tutors at the spa. This opportunity gave her a chance to step out of her comfort zone, improve her language skills, and build confidence in communicating with others. The supportive environment at Omamori Spa with blind students allowed her to overcome many of her fears and develop the social skills she had previously lacked. As Trang is sighted, she has been training to support the front desk staff.

Trang is very happy when learning English with teachers from Global Volunteers

Today, Hồng Trang is no longer the shy, withdrawn girl she once was. With the help of her new family at Omamori Spa, she is becoming more confident and independent each day. Her journey is a testament to the power of care, support, and the right environment in helping individuals transform their lives.
