Chinh’s Story

A New Vision: Finding Light After Darkness

Chinh lost vision due to an accident: she was shot by her boyfriend at the age of 18. That tragedy changed her life forever.

The process of adjusting to permanent darkness was a long and arduous one. Eventually, I found solace and a sense of direction by joining a local blind association. It was through this connection that I was introduced to the vocational training courses offered by the Centre of Training and Rehabilitation for the Vietnamese Blind in Hanoi.

Upon completing the course, I discovered Omamori Spa’s free training program. At Omamori Spa, my learning journey continued as I delved into professional massage techniques and furthered my language skills in English and even Japanese. Reflecting on the initial despair after losing my vision, it felt as though my belief in life and a bright future had vanished. However, joining Omamori Spa has gifted me something invaluable: a community of friends who share similar experiences. This shared understanding fosters natural empathy, support, and love among us. I have begun to embrace my life with renewed vigor and a growing sense of self-assurance.

Chinh was learning English conversation with Global Volunteers

The model of Omamori Spa and the professionalism of its staff have deeply impressed me. I am particularly grateful for the support program that allows us to learn English and Japanese from international volunteers. These classes are not only relaxing but also incredibly helpful in communicating with clients and those around me. While I’ve always known that massage is a well-suited profession for the blind, I recognize that becoming a truly skilled and professional therapist requires continuous learning and improvement.

Looking ahead, my hope is to expand my massage expertise and gain practical experience that will one day enable me to open a massage center for the blind in my hometown.

Since 2017, Chinh has been the owner of the first Omamori Spa’s location in Huynh Thúc Khang Street, Hanoi
