Vũ Quang Thắng, a 21-year-old young man living in Quảng Ninh, is visually impaired. He lost part of his vision due to an accident. In his family, Thắng is the only one with a visual impairment. Despite this, he always strives to live independently and overcome the challenges of life.
After completing 11th grade, Thang has been working as a masseur. He started this job nearly a year ago after learning a course organized by the National Training and Rehab Center for the Vietnamese blind. During less than one year, he has moved to 3 different parlors. This is a hard work, but he thinks it helps him make a living through his own hands.
Every day, Thắng works around 5-6 hours. He earns 50,000 VND for each hour of work and receives an additional 10,000-20,000 VND in tips from customers. He shares that, on average, 10-20 percent of his clients give him a tip.
Although his job sometimes presents difficult situations, Thắng says that the owner of his current parlor allows all masseurs to refuse any inappropriate requests. From his observation, he has never encountered any customers making inappropriate demands for services at his workplace, so he is unaware of the tip amounts for such requests.
In addition to working at the parlor, Thắng is also willing to accept massage appointments at customers’ homes if requested. He is eager to earn extra income to improve his life. Despite facing challenges due to his visual impairment, Thắng maintains an optimistic attitude and continuously strives to live independently and successfully, just like anyone else.
Thắng’s story is a testament to perseverance and determination, showing that, even when facing physical challenges, anyone with willpower and effort can rise above and achieve success in life.
